Albaöl in the test: grade 2.2 by Stiftung Warentest, November 2018 issue

27.11.2018

Rapeseed oil is Germany’s most popular cooking oil, and supermarket shelves offer a wide selection. Stiftung Warentest therefore took a closer look at 23 rapeseed oils and tested them. Albaöl was included in the test under the “speciality” category.

The advantages of rapeseed oil are clear: it contains very little saturated fat, is an excellent source of omega-3 and also has a favorable ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids. In nutritional terms, there are few healthier sources of fat.

Stiftung Warentest tested 13 refined and 10 cold-pressed oils. The verdict: 21 of the 23 oils were good. According to the testers, refined rapeseed oils in particular provide reliable quality. The quality of cold-pressed oils varies more, and two of them were even inedible.

Albaöl received an overall rating of GOOD (2.2). As in the previous Stiftung Warentest test, it again achieved the best chemical quality among all tested oils (1.1).
